This fun, wildly beautiful soap is vegan. Made with coconut oil, coconut milk, and an essential oil blend that kind of smells like Fruity Pebbles (not what I was going for, but I’m not mad at it, either!).
We are mindful of our packaging and the impact it has on the environment. That is why we use only recyclable materials to package and ship our products.
We want our soap to be beautiful, and feel wonderful and nourishing to your skin, while supporting better social and environmental standards.
It is our hope that our customers feel good about the products they purchase from us, and that our products make our customers feel good, too.
The technique used in lomah soaps is called “cold process”, meaning there is no external heat source used to cook the soap (to speed up the saponification process). Therefore, it is a slower process that requires about 6 weeks to cure before it can be used. In this process, an alkali (lye) is combined with fatty acids (oils) which produces soap and glycerin.
About our Soaps:
Your skin is your largest organ and what it absorbs goes directly into your bloodstream to be carried throughout your body. This is why we make soap using natural ingredients.
Our soap is free of lab-created, synthetic fragrance oils and dyes. Instead, we use plant-based essential oils and natural colorants. We choose not to use palm oil, even though it is a natural oil that works beautifully in soap, because of the negative environmental effects it has on our rain forests.
Instead, we source all the ingredients we can locally (e.g., lard, tallow, goat milk, etc.) and the ingredients that cannot be produced locally (e.g., coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil, etc.), we buy from organic and fair trade sources as much as possible.
All of the animal fat that is used in Lomah soaps is acquired as slabs of fat (from local farms, most of them being certified organic) that we render down ourselves into lard or tallow. Having high standards for the ingredients we use while trying to keep costs down is a challenge, so we try to buy in bulk to pass the savings along to our customers.
An extra note: One of the main ingredients found in most of our soaps is lard. Lard does not create a very bubbly soap, but it is very moisturizing.
